POSITION: Research Engineer 2/Materials Engineer 2

OFFERED WAGE: $79,000.00 per Year
JOB DUTIES: Provide detailed material characterization and/or research and develop polymeric coatings, composites, elastomeric compounds, laminates, thermoplastic resins, and metallic alloys to support customers, sales, engineering, and manufacturing operations. Provide (in collaboration) solutions to current issues on both performance and process. Ensure that any data leaving the materials department via customer report, engineering report, manufacturing report, or publication is of the utmost integrity. Actively participate in the appropriate Product Development Groups, professional organizations (ACS, AICHE, ASM, STLE, etc.), and manufacturing or engineering task forces. Deliver interpretation of analytical/test results as identified in project definitions in oral and/or written form. Maintain accurate and orderly files of measurement data and work requests. Possess and demonstrate a working knowledge (operation, maintenance and basic data interpretation) of analytical kits such as; SEM, XRD, Thermal, XPS, Tribological test rigs, etc. Plan and carry out, as required, with a minimum of supervision, controlled experiments to determine the influence of process parameters on product performance. Be aware of external developments through literature reviews and symposia, Integrate external technology by collaborating with universities, government labs, etc. as required. Support and maintain both quality and EH&S functions of the group as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Corrosion Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Physics and three (3) years experience in job offered or related occupation.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Experience must include: research and development of New Materials for Products, Structure-Property Correlation; identifying mode of failure by fracture surface examination; establishing structure-property correlations; material investigations using X-Ray Diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy, X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy and investigations by Thermal methods; Metallography, Sample Preparation; and Corrosion/Mechanical/Tribological Testing of Materials.
