Position Summary:
The Mill Engineer develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Additionally, the Mill Engineer coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products. Responsible for mechanical, electrical, environmental, quality, and production related items throughout the entire plant, the Mill Engineer supports the mills transformation efforts through team participation and team leadership.
Principle Accountabilities:
Perform research, design and development of manufacturing processes, including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
Support bottom line profit and loss improvement in all areas by conducting product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality and throughput improvement, and efficiency improvement
Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products and processes, including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.
Provide analytical lab services including environmental testing and monitoring of air, water, and solid waste
Maintain test equipment in productions areas
Designs, develops, tests or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
Plan, develop, coordinate and direct assigned engineering projects to a successful completion by utilizing existing resources, writing appropriation requests, meeting the monetary budget, conducting project design reviews, communicating project specifications, reporting out progress and results, working across departments, effectively utilizing internal resources and securing outside consultants when needed, developing prototypes, and providing project documentation.
Collect data resulting from investigations and perform / obtain analyses up-date. Provide report with recommendations and conclusions.
Coordinate all activities associated with deployment of approved projects including training line staff, providing hand-on support, and conducting post-deployment maintenance
Participate in mill improvement projects and transformation efforts as well as promoting safety regulations
Ensure production crew and management has adequate training in regards to assigned projected and equipment
Know and follow policies and procedures of the company shares information that would benefit other members of the team and finds ways to improve the delivery of service to our customers.
Position Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering required
Up to 3 years of work in a process engineering related role or equivalent preferred but not required. Paper mill experience or process knowledge is a plus.
Must have good troubleshooting skills and knowledge of digital and analog control systems.
Ability to work with the required software for model based control applications.
Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to build and maintain positive relationships with team members.
Good organizational skills, decision maker and results oriented.
Ability to learn and develop Model Predictive Controls on all areas of responsibilities.
Self-starter, willing to work with minimal supervision and input from those who explain the needed results.
Ability to develop and train on processes and systems being put into place.
Demonstrated effective facilitation, project execution, and follow-up and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated track record of independent project leadership and value creation.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook required.
