We have Quality Engineer positions open within our Engineering Department, and will accept applicants at either the Engineer or Senior Engineer level.
The Engineer position is the second level of Engineer in the Engineering Department. This level is for the employee with some relevant work experience who has mastered basic engineering skills. The focus of this position is on receiving and applying information appropriately, and looking for opportunities to improve areas of engineering knowledge. The position will lead projects or phases of programs of minimal to moderate complexity and risk (with low probability of intangibles), and medium duration (6 months or less). This position is mostly self-directed and a moderate level of creativity is expected. Decisions are reviewed closely by the supervisor.
The Senior Engineer is the third level of Engineer in the Engineering Department. This level is for the employee who possesses recognized technical expertise in at least one area of the operational environment. The employee provides professional guidance, leadership, and training to other technical and non-technical personnel. The employee is capable of leading multiple complex projects of long duration (9 months or less) and of medium risk (with high probability of intangibles), while continuously improving areas of personal knowledge; will provide training and tutoring of others. This position is mostly self-directed. Creativity in developing novel ideas and using ingenuity to solve problems is required. Major technical decisions reviewed by the supervisor.
Our Engineers will:
Collaborate as a productive member of project teams and lead projects of varying size and scope (depending upon the level)
Demonstrate Engineering Professionalism in all activities and interactions, increase personal awareness of customer needs and implement solutions, and provide efficient service to internal and external customers
Schedule activities to complete assigned tasks and projects, and communicate and document requisite information, while following established Dart policies and procedures
Apply technical knowledge to identify process and equipment problems, recommend and implement solutions, collect and document data, and verify results
Senior Engineers will:
Create projects of large size and moderately complex scope, and collaborate as a leader or member of project teams on multi-disciplinary levels
Apply expert-level technical knowledge and expertise to solve process and equipment problems, collect and document data, and verify results
Specific Duties:
Engineer:
Design and evaluate gages and test equipment
Document and improve current processes and equipment, and develop new processes and materials
Conduct and direct work in a safe manner following established best practices, rules, and regulations. Recognize safety hazards, recommend action to correct. Intervene with co-workers who may be working in an unsafe manner. Participate in investigations of any accidents/incidents
Experience in design of experiments (DOE), Repeatability and Reproductibility (R&R), studies and Total Quality Management (TQM)
Previous experience with Geometric dimensions and tolerance
Perform Measurement Systems Analysis, including Gage R&R studies
Develop procedures and provide training on the proper usage of gages and measurement systems
Develop and execute design experiments
Develop inspection criteria
Senior Engineer:
Actively ensure lower level engineers are following applicable equipment and process design standards and regulations. Seek opportunities to evolve and improve each
Identify potential equipment or process problems and improvements in conjunction with all levels of production and management personnel
Act as a consultant to other departments, provide input to corporate management, and direct the activities of lower level personnel to accomplish requests/assignments
Mentor colleagues and co-workers in their professional development
Review and participate in design test parameters, mechanisms and equipment used to collect, summarize and report test data using statistical analysis where applicable. Assist with evaluation and resolution of multi-disciplinary design problems. Perform detailed engineering work in part of a major project or in a total project. Stay abreast of new technologies using appropriate resources
Develop and implement cost-effective manufacturing processes, equipment and new materials from concept through production
Conduct Field Service Repost (FSR) investigations
Perform and/or assist with internal product and process audits
Assist in the evaluation and resolution of multidisciplinary design problems
Evaluate prospective plant Quality Systems and conduct Gap Analysis where required
