About this Opportunity
As a Material Planning Agent - Senior Associate, you'll be responsible for the planning, delivery, quality, and inventory investments of selected raw material and purchased products to support manufacturing needs and customer on-time shipments relative to suppliers
What You'll Do

Ttravel to suppliers when required.
Ensure raw material flow to manufacturing areas by coordinating and communicating with suppliers, Inventory Control, Production, Engineering, etc.
Communicate with Accounting, Purchasing, and Finance to resolve pricing, transportation, set up charges, or other supplier-related invoicing issues.
Develop and control inventory strategies and investments to support manufacturing needs while ensuring the best possible utilization of inventory space and dollars, as well as inventory accuracy.
Provide relevant input and insights for decision-making and problem-solving.
Support the development and implementation of new strategies relative to materials management processes.
Work with New Product Engineers and New Product Development to represent material strategies, manufacturing needs, and supplier development in new product development and implementation.
Support opportunities to reduce Herman Miller's total material cost (i.e., part consolidation, part design).
Work with Quality Engineers to resolve quality-related issues. You'll be responsible for the resolution and communication of these issues with suppliers using the Herman Miller NCM system and other resources as needed.
Work with, support, and communicate with Supplier Development Managers and Supplier Commodity Managers to ensure effective communication with and continued development of the supplier base, which includes communicating business needs and articulating overall business capabilities.
Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) or work experience which demonstrates performance competency.
Three years of material planning experience.
The ability to work in an environment with frequently changing priorities and different tasks, responsibilities, and people.
The ability to build networks and relationships in and outside the organization.
Communication skills to explore alternatives and points of view to reach an agreement that all parties support and accept.
The ability to be a team player who applies problem solving to accomplish similar goals, yet is able to work independently.
A good understanding of manufacturing, production, scheduling processes, as well as overall business capabilities for both Herman Miller and suppliers.
Technical knowledge of material requirements planning, scheduling, and Lean initiatives.
The ability to handle confidential information.
Project management skills.
The ability to perform all essential job functions of the position with or without accommodations.
