Business Technology Solutions (BTS) is Consumers Energy's Information Technology department. Join us on the Journey to Excellence to become a best in class IT organization. The Program Manager leads teams in the most highly complex tasks requiring the application of advanced IT infrastructure and/or business application knowledge, skills, practices and procedures, along with creative insights in order to successfully complete assignments. Tasks may include:
Develops and Maintains credibility and effective working relationships with both client management and BTS personnel in a way that demonstrates an understanding of business problems, IT strategies, issues, and priorities. Participates in development and implementation of strategies to meet organizational goals, ensuring that client and BTS priorities are aligned and accomplished. Leads teams or larger projects with complex infrastructure applications requiring strong leadership traits and/or leads teams involved in the analysis, design, development and implementation of software applications. Determines requirements, plans projects, establishes priorities and monitors progress. Evaluates status, resource utilization and implements changes to improve the team's effectiveness. Manages a project team developing a large or mission-critical software application. Leadership responsibilities also include career development, performance management, and employee communication. Works with substantial latitude and is often involved in matters which have a major bearing on the Company's business. This level is expected to evaluate the effectiveness of staff performance in support of business requirements. May coordinate with project managers and team leaders. Has supervisory responsibility for employees and has accountability for the team success, as well as career development, performance management, and communication
Job Description/Responsibilities
Manage direct and indirect contract resources that may span multiple geographies (where applicable).
Liaise with cross functional teams.
Facilitates process review sessions with organizations, presents recommendations to process owners.
Aligns goals and deliverables of team with strategic direction of BTS and CE organization
Requirements/Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree preferably in an IT field and typically has 15 or more years applicable exempt working experience with at least 5 at the BTS Tech Sr Lead/ Spec I/II level or the equivalent.
Placement at the Tech Team Lead/PM II level requires proficiency in specific "market-driven" skills that are currently at a higher level in the labor market, due to their special complexity, high demand and/or scarcity.
Diplomatic and customer service focused; ability to manage key stakeholders in positive, poised and effective manner
Proven experience effectively communicating technical issues/challenges to non-technical people.
Good stakeholder relations and negotiation skills. Knowledge and experience in managing financial budget.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Must be self-motivated, must have an ability to work well in a geographically dispersed, virtual team environment, and must exhibit a positive and professional attitude.
Graduate degree in computer science or related technical field, or equivalent experience is preferred.
The role will be filled at the level appropriate based on the candidate selected.
Demonstrated ability to lead senior level management team. Display and retain composure for self and team during critical infrastructure and cyber security related issues.Mentoring in process design, process methodology, leadership and relationship management Technology Competence.Good understanding of the specific technology area(s) and a working knowledge understanding across all IT components.
Vendor Management: Demonstrated ability to develop/maintain a deep relationship with multiple vendors and contractors and holding them accountable.
Analytical:The ability to analyze and use data and measures to communicate service capabilities, and current performance. Ability to identify patterns and trends within incidents - this assumes a broad understanding of technology components and interdependencies.
Effective Communication:Demonstrated ability to successfully influence and negotiate, including the ability to communicate effectively to both internally and externally facing organizations.
