Overview:
The Department of Medicine and the Transplant Institute at Henry Ford Hospital is seeking qualified applicants for the role of Medical Director, of the Henry Ford Lung Transplant Program.
Reporting to the Head of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, the candidate will have the responsibility of providing strategic direction and effective leadership to the medical component of the lung transplant service while creating an environment that enhances clinical growth and academic development.
The Medical Director will work collaboratively with a team of surgeons, transplant coordinators, and lung transplant team from initial evaluation to post-transplant care. In addition, the Medical Director will conduct and oversee quality improvement functions of the program and assure regulatory and UNOS/OPTN compliance. Successful candidates will have clinical expertise in the evaluation of candidates for lung transplantation and in their post-transplant management along with a strong interest in clinical research, medical education and mentoring junior faculty.
The Henry Ford lung transplant program was started in 1994 with over 160 transplants to date. The Henry Ford Transplant Institute, a collaborative service line, comprises heart, lung, liver, kidney, pancreas, intestine and bone marrow transplant and is the most comprehensive program in the State of Michigan.
Physicians and surgeons are part of the Henry Ford Medical Group with nearly 1200 physician members. Henry Ford Hospital is a 900 bed academic teaching institution founded in 1915 and part of the Henry Ford Health System, one of the nation's largest integrated health care delivery systems.

Qualifications:
* Completion of an ACGME accredited fellowship program.
* Active board certification in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine with extensive experience and training in transplant pulmonology is required.
* Applicants must also be UNOS qualified to be the principle physician of a lung transplant program.
* Ability to obtain Medical Licensure in the State of Michigan is mandatory.
