Our St Clair Shores, MI customer is seeking an experienced 1stshift Prototype Technician (6am-2pm with a 20 minute paid lunch break) for a direct hire position. Currently, most skilled positions are working overtime, averaging 45-55 total hours per week, so must be available for overtime.
Purpose:
Responsible for performing design validation and production validation of assemblies in a prototype/test environment. Will be working in a prototype/test lab environment.
Responsibilities:
Perform design/product validation testing including test set-up, performance monitoring and reporting with respect to: life cycle durability, ultimate strength, fatigue, load & deflection, noise & vibration, and environment.
Perform prototype/service build functional performance testing
Perform incoming inspection of prototype components
Perform prototype or pre-production build tasks when needed
Create/modify prototype Control Plans, PFMEAs, and Process Flows
Create/modify DVP&Rs and PVP&Rs
Aid in planning/monitoring/updating prototype build plans
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Licensure: Valid Driver’s License. May have to use personal vehicle for some limited/minimal travel within the localized area.
Must be proficient with MIG & TIG Welding, have CNC programming experience, have some basic robot programming skills, laser welding background and mechanism build & test experience
Knowledge and experience in the use of: drill presses, die cutters, grinders, hand-held MIG welders, cordless impact wrenches, LECO sectional wet saws, ban saws, LECO automated disc polishers.
MUST HAVE Strong blueprint reading, blueprint interpretation and GD&T
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office application including PowerPoint
Experience with PAX-it software
Perform calculations and conduct moderate analysis
Knowledge and experience in the use of: hand-held force gages, digital protractors, hand-held torque cells, digital indicators.
Ability to interact with other technicians, engineers, customers and suppliers
Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
Demonstrated problem-solving skills
Must have good communication skills to interact with all levels of employees
Computer skills and math skills sufficient to perform department-related tasks are required.
- · Safety glasses, hearing protection and slip resistant, solid upper, leather shoes (most tennis shoes are acceptable) are required. Ability to lift and fixture a variety of parts onto test equipment (20-60 lbs).
