Our Plymouth, MI customer is seeking an experienced Automotive Account Manager for a direct hire position at a salary range of $85,000-$95,000. A company car and a potential 15% bonus is available.
Responsibilities:
- Routine interaction with automotive manufacturers OEMS, including international and service entities
- Visits to the engineering, purchasing and manufacturing sites of assigned automotive OEMs
- Provide technical assistance in systematic problem-solving initiatives, and communicating/collaborating with internal departments and customers as necessary
- Identify, develop and prepare quotations for new business opportunities and/or to reflect product design evolution
- Ensure preparation of documentation and/or reports are completed as requirement (NAFTA, AALA, CAFÉ, etc.)
- Lead project management to communicate and ensure customer timelines are met
- Negotiate and/or assist in resolving customer issues (pricing, quality, etc.)
- Develop and implement strategic plans, sales forecasts, marketing plans and materials, etc. required to effectively and profitably grow assigned customers
- Review and monitor product development activities to ensure that the customer’s expectations are met and/or exceeded
- Document and report, as appropriate, sales results, requirements, market trends, variances, etc.
- Participate and assist in the prototype/pilot product design, build, testing (DV, PV, etc.) to ensure that the customer’s expectations are met and/or exceeded
- Provide commercial and technical assistance effectively on a global basis
Requirements:
- Bachelors of Science Degree (a engineering degree is required; a business/finance/etc degree will not be considered); BSME is preferred
- 3-5 years’ experience in OEM/Tier automotive sales.
- Previous experience in negotiating with purchasing and/or engineering departments is preferred
- Project management experience is desired
- Experience in dealing with GM, Ford, Chrysler or Toyota, and a good understand of their related processes/systems (SSTS, SDS, SOR, SOW, etc.), including their APQP process is desired
- Knowledge/understand/experience with vehicle systems and/or vehicle sub-systems (steering, driveline or vehicle dynamics is preferred)
