The Michigan Lottery and Pollard Banknote are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join our digital marketing team. The Scientist will be a key part of the analytics team and will generate insights that will drive strategic marketing decisions to improve the Lottery’s digital initiatives. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop forecasts and predictive models for a variety of programs such as new products, changes to existing products, acquisition marketing campaigns and retention marketing programs.
- Assist with data mining and segmentation strategies for player database activities.
- Assist with formulating, conducting and assessing A/B testing programs.
- Evaluate results from CRM / direct marketing activities and provide recommendations.
- Quantify and assess the performance of existing programs by utilizing a variety of disparate data sources while isolating any variable factors.
- Create statistical models and make recommendations to optimize prize structures for existing and future Lottery games.
- Clearly document and communicate statistical models and evaluation findings to peers and management.
- When assigned by management, project lead or coordinate assignments between the Lottery and/or vendors.
QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS in a quantitative discipline – Marketing, Business, Mathematics, Statistics or Economics degree preferred
- Experience in developing statistical models involving variability factors
- Requires critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills - must have ability to clearly and simply communicate complex information
- Database marketing experience is preferred
- Experience utilizing SQL is preferred
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
