We are currently partnering with a greater Detroit area company in their search for a fulltime, direct hire Product Engineer Technician to join their team.
Job Summary:
Provide specialized technical support to design engineering and manufacturing for new product and prototypes while developing and maintaining a flow of product through fabrication, assuring that projects are completed as scheduled.
Responsibilities:
- The role in part is to support full power unit product line by providing technical support to design engineering and manufacturing for new product and prototypes.
- Develop and maintain flow of product through manufacturing, assuring that projects are completed by the determined schedule.
- Utilize and facilitate information exchange of engineering standards, protocol, and complete documentation to maintain consistent performance and on-time delivery of projects through production.
- Assure quality, safety, and completion of prototypes from initial build through delivery of final product to customer
- Develop and implement production improvements driven by involvement with continuous improvement programs, engineering innovation programs, Six-Sigma programs and customer driven programs.
- Utilize Creo 2 software as a design tool to develop new models, with 3D CAD for the product models and 2D CAD for the part production models.
- Organize the setup and operation of test equipment in production to evaluate performance of developmental parts, systems, or assemblies under simulated operating conditions with standardized record retention and action plans / production alerts.
- Recommend and implement assembly best practices to other departments to optimize production throughput.
- Ensure that all power units meet or exceed guidelines through production.
- Maintain a high level of accountability for quantity and quality of work performed.
- Provide hands-on / fabrication work to maintain safe, quality, and efficient culmination of projects.
- Provide problem solving and suggestions for resolution to support quality, safety and timely completion of projects through production.
- Process and complete ECRs, Non-conformances, Quality Assurance initiatives, and Corrective Action Records.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education/Experience:
- Associates degree is a plus, experience in place of degree will be considered.
- Expertise in Creo 2 design software and design systems.
- Solid history of production engineering innovation & performance.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to apply sound design principles. Electrical background a plus.
- Practical knowledge and work experience with gas and/or diesel engines.
- Experience in mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electric systems.
Skills and Abilities:
- Expertise in system integration.
- Superior interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Creo 2, and Windchill.
- Capable in windows based Microsoft Office programs.
- Knowledge of practical applications of engineering science and technology.
