We are looking for a motivated Supplier Quality Supervisor to engage and lead our team of Supplier Quality Engineers and suppliers in APQP and problem solving activities. This candidate should have successfully demonstrated experience using standard problem solving tools and be proficient in project and task management. The ideal candidate should have experience providing direction and leadership to various suppliers and team members on quality and process improvement/development initiatives while engaging the appropriate internal and external resources, as required.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for supervising, developing, staffing and managing the U.S. Supplier Quality organization
- Focus on fixing the poor performing suppliers in the U.S. and Canada
- Interface with the global Supplier Quality Management Team to resolve supplier caused quality issues and share lessons learned
- Provide input into Sourcing Decisions and the Bid Lists
- Create a High Performance culture in the U.S. Supplier Quality group
- Develop and coordinate training for Nexteer’s Direct Material Suppliers
- Help determine part critical characteristics and required process controls
- Function as liaison with your team between Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Suppliers to approve component PPAP, resolve quality issues, and provide Fast Response technical support
- Determine cause of supplier quality problems and coordinate/implement effective and timely resolutions
- Improve quality performance of suppliers by conducting problem solving and quality improvement workshops at supplier locations
- Provide suppliers the technical assistance to develop and maintain quality systems that meet or exceed Nexteer’s requirements
- Implement and monitor the part qualification and certification process with selected suppliers
- Maintain required documentation and files
