Responsibilities:
- Assists and instructs other technicians in performing diagnostic and repair activities.
- Diagnoses and repairs to specifications – brake and hydraulic systems, exhaust systems, air conditioning, steering/suspension systems and wheel alignment.
- Adequately explains mechanical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include team mates and customers on an as required basis.
- Continuously learns new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay or become proficient in automotive diagnosis and repair.
- Keeps store management aware of service area mechanical repair problems as they occur.
- Performs vehicle inspection/courtesy checks as required following current Company inspection procedures manual.
- Maintains an organized and clean work area.
- Maintains A.S.E. Certifications as required.
- Complete the required Company Education Modules as required.
- Obtains (within 60 days) and renews as necessary, required state inspection licenses necessary per specific state guidelines.
- Obtains necessary CFC license if performing air condition work.
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of Automotive Repair Experience
ASE Certified within 2 testing periods of employment in at least 5 of the following areas:
(A1) Engineer Repair
(A4) Suspension & Steering
(A5) Brakes
(A6) Electrical Systems
(A7) Heating and Air Conditioning
(A8) Engine Performance
(L1) Automotive Advanced Engineer Performance
Michigan Certifications required
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
- Written Communications and math skills are required.
- Must be able to interpret and explain instructions included in Company operations manuals.
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people.
- A.S.E. Certified in at least five areas of automotive system diagnoses and repair within two years of the date of hire.
- Maintains Federal, State and Local certification/license where applicable.
- Must have completed all Company Education Modules and Materials required for this position.
- MUST HAVE VALID U.S.A. AUTOMOBILE DRIVE’S LICENSE AT ALL TIMES AND BE ABLE TO ROAD TEST AUTOMOBILES.
