The Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University has an immediate opening for a seasoned PHP developer with three to five years of experience who is detail oriented and takes pride in delivering high quality software. This position leads the development of internal and external web applications and is responsible for all aspects of the software development lifecycle. The successful applicant must be comfortable meeting with clients, developing requirements, documenting, and executing on projects.
Day to day activities include:
- Responding to user support requests in our ticketing system
- Triaging issues from our bug tracking system
- Meeting with stakeholders
- New code development
- Coaching and mentoring student employees
- Representing the college at developer specific campus forums
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Mastery of PHP, SQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Solid understanding of the MVC design pattern
- Expertise with Zend Framework, Doctrine, and WordPress
- Experience with responsive web design
- Proficiency with a version control system, such as SVN or Git
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work across multiple projects
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and independently to deliver projects on time
