This position is located at the Hemlock Semiconductor site and is responsible for providing day to day support for critical HR activities at the site. The site consists of approximately 750-800 associates. In addition, the position also includes assisting with the Clarksville, Tennessee site operations as required.
The incumbent is responsible for providing day to day support for all manufacturing operations, and partnering with critical operations leadership at the site. Activities include recruiting and movement of associates, development of associates, training of associates, compensation and benefit analysis, policy development and enforcement, conducting investigations, and providing advice on organizational design and movement decisions. The position reports directly to the HR manager at the site, and is part of an overall 4-5 person HR professional staff at the site.
Primary Responsibilities:
Builds critical relationships with operations and site leaders in order to assist with organizational design, organizational moves and the staffing of site operations
* Participates in the recruitment process, discussing staff needs with line managers, screening applications and conducting interviews and leading consensus target interviewing decisions.
* Provides day to day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
* Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
* Investigates and resolves day-to-day employee relations problems, either directly or through advice to line management. Maintains in depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Provides HR Policy guidance and interpretation. Partners with legal department as needed/required.
* Facilitates and/or provides training (including technical training) to the workforce.
* Assists HR Manager in promoting site-wide positive employee relations approach; participates in vulnerability assessments, risk analysis and ensuring direct communication methods with employees are adhered to. Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
* Develops and administers HR policies and practices consistently through the Hemlock site
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field, Master’s Degree preferred
• Minimum of 8 - 10 years of the resolution of complex employee relation issues.
• Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, federal and state respective employment laws.
• Relevant industry experience a plus.
• International experience or assignment preferred; capable of taking an assignment overseas at a future date
• PHR or SPR designation a plus
