Summary
The area Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Supervisor Assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Company's Occupational Safety, Health, and Environmental programs including regulatory and system compliance for, but not limited to: OSHA, EPA, ODA, DNR, and Local Governments. The EHS Supervisor will be tasked with supporting the Director of EHS to ensure the Company's operations comply with OSHA and other regulatory agencies, company policies, and industry best practice.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership/Business Partnership
Develop relationships and provide EHS Business Partner support to site leadership team with particular focus on driving compliance with Environmental and Safety initiatives, including coaching on root cause investigations and risk assessments. Lead EHS related conversations and initiatives.
Establish trusting relationships with hourly employees, including interacting with them in the production and processing facilities.
Area EHS Supervisor Responsibilities
Coordinate with facilities to assist in projects which require specialized knowledge/capabilities regarding environmental and/or safety related aspects. Develop, plan, and conduct EHS meetings, training, coaching programs to ensure understanding of EHS compliance with employees, supervisors and site leadership.
Perform Environmental and Safety compliance inspections/audits at all facilities and report findings to management. Identifies and evaluates hazardous conditions and practices, develop practices and programs to correct or reduce their occurrence, conduct risk assessments/evaluations with onsite staff per OSHA, ODA, EPA, and other regulatory/recognized standards and regulations.
Perform on site testing/monitoring to ensure compliance within environmental parameters.
Complete and submit all environmental regulatory reports including but not limited
to: Air Emissions, Tier II, TRI, Waste Water, NPDES.
Communicate with EPA, ODA, DNR, OSHA, and other local and regulatory agencies regarding compliance initiatives, concerns, and complaints.
Develop action plans to address deficiencies within the Environmental and Safety Programs and work with site to identify corrective actions.
Represent Daybreak Foods at local community meetings and provide accurate information and responses to community inquiries and concerns.
Assist local Human Resources (HR) with Worker's Compensation administration, including first report of injuries, return to work light duty programs and claims management to reduce cost of claims.
Ensure activities and requirements associated with BWC are completed in a timely manner
Assist local HR with OSHA record keeping and injury record keeping.
Perform Job Safety Analyses, PPE assessments and make recommendations for improvement.
Coordinate and assist facilities with implementation and management of EHS programs with the goal of injury and incident prevention and safety/environmental compliance.
Review company accident statistics and recommends corrections to improve overall employee health and safety.
Adhere to safety, quality, and legal compliance including environmental compliance.
Adhere to safety, health, and environmental standards of the facility.
Perform other related and assigned duties as necessary.
Oversee inspection, maintenance, and upkeep of safety equipment (fall protection, respiratory protection, confined space entry, etc.)
Project Management
Work with broader EHS team on a wide variety of global EHS initiatives and projects across multiple EHS disciplines, including, but not limited to: worker's compensation, diversity and inclusion, EHS policy, change management, Environmental performance, regulatory compliance, sustainability, social accountability.

Education and/or Experience
The position requires a Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of progressive experience in an EHS environment, GSP/ASP/CSP or other related professional certification is desired.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Effective oral and written communications and presentation skills.
Ability to speak, read and write Spanish is desired.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental laws, and pending legislation.
The ability to make critical decisions and judgments on safety related issues.
Works effectively in a team environment.
The ability to gather and analyze statistical data, generate reports and plan improvement.
Ability to set and implement site-level EHS strategy.
Operational knowledge of regulations and procedures.
PC skills to include: MS Office software, such as Excel and Word, and other internal management systems is necessary.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.
The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The position is primarily an office-based position with regular visits to the barns and plant floor. The employee frequently performs work-related travel.
